Student Management
Explore how students are supported and developed through structured programmes that build character, leadership, and a sense of community in schools.
Vision
Student Management at Kheng Cheng School is guided by our vision of empowering every child to make a positive difference in the community and our mission to nurture students' character and values, inspiring them to make meaningful contributions to their community.
Restorative School Discipline
At Kheng Cheng School, we believe that discipline is an educative process that develops self-discipline, responsibility, and good character. Through a positive, proactive, and restorative approach, we support students in learning from their mistakes, making better choices, and repairing relationships when harm has been caused.

MOE's Positive and Proactive Approach to Discipline: Promote • Address • Replace • Restore
Our approach focuses on:
Promoting a safe, caring, and supportive school environment.
Addressing inappropriate behaviour promptly and guiding students towards better choices.
Replacing inappropriate behaviours with positive, prosocial behaviours and restoring relationships through reflection, accountability, and respectful dialogue.
Our Daily Practices
1. Promoting Punctuality
Arriving on time helps students develop responsibility, respect for others, and readiness to learn. The school works closely with students and parents to cultivate positive attendance and punctuality habits.
2. Discipline Talks
Briefings are conducted throughout the year to reinforce school expectations and promote a safe learning environment. At the start of each school year, Form Teachers go through the school rules with students. These expectations are reinforced throughout the year through regular reminders and teachable moments in the classroom.
3. Safe Play Messages
Safe Play Messages are regularly shared to promote a safe and enjoyable recess experience. Students are encouraged to play only in designated areas, be considerate of others, and remain aware of their surroundings. They are reminded to avoid rough play, refrain from playing when unwell, and report any injuries to a teacher immediately. Safe play expectations are reinforced through daily announcements, cohort meetings, and regular reminders by teachers.
Safety is as simple as ABC – Always Be Careful!
Key Programmes
1. Catch Us Doing Good
The programme recognises students who demonstrate the school's values through their positive actions and interactions. By celebrating these everyday acts, we encourage all students to continue making good choices and contributing to a caring school community.

Inspiring others through positive actions and everyday kindness
2. Monthly Attire Checks
Attire checks help reinforce students' pride in their appearance and readiness to learn. Students are expected to wear the prescribed school attire and maintain an appropriate hairstyle in accordance with the Student Handbook. We appreciate parents' support in ensuring their child complies with the school’s attire expectations.
3. Cleanest Classroom Awards
Through this programme, students develop a sense of responsibility, ownership, and teamwork while cultivating positive habits that contribute to a caring school environment. The school encourages students to take pride in maintaining a clean, organised, and conducive learning environment.
4. Road Safety Programme
Students are taught the importance of practising good road safety habits as part of the school's efforts to keep them safe. They are reminded to practise the Kerb Drill whenever they cross the road, and videos are used to reinforce safe road-crossing habits. Every year, all P4 students will attend the Traffic Police Road Safety Programme, where they will learn and practise responsible road safety behaviours in a simulated traffic environment.
